Technology to Foster Mentoring (Article)

How do you create a true mentoring culture?  Alot of the approach to a mentoring culture is removing the mindset of having only formal mentoring programs and fostering a sense of mentoring that includes both formal and informal mentoring opportunities, and providing employees with the tools to connect with others - both locally and globally.

One company, Rockwell Collins, uses e-mentoring software to empower employees (and there are some 16 000 of them) to seek out their own mentors, 'based on their inidvidual, unique, developmental needs'.  It's a global mentoring program, that with the help of e-mentoring software, enables employees to seek out mentors on a 'just in time basis'.
