Dr Lois Zachary in 2009
Gilly Johnson, Director of the Australian Mentor Centre, recently spoke with international mentoring expert, Dr Lois Zachary, about her current work in mentoring. Many of you may know of her excellent resources, ‘The Mentors Guide’ and ‘Creating a Mentoring Culture: The Organisation’s Guide’, which you can purchase through our Amazon Bookstore. However, in speaking with Lois, we want to let you know that her latest book ‘The Mentee’s Guide’ should be available in mid 2009. We’ll keep you posted on the publication and launch of this third book in this excellent mentoring series.
Plus – we’ll be hosting a Talking Mentoring Webinar Series in 2009 with Lois called: Mentoring Culture Conversations, with three webinars, one each for Organisations, Mentors and Mentees. Lois says of a mentoring relationship: ‘We’re really talking about a collaborative partnership and where it’s not so much that a mentor gives answers, but asks the right questions that lead you to deeper places of insight’. ... ‘I think mentoring has really become a leadership competency in organisations. Certainly in an age where trust is important in an organisation, mentoring is a way to build trust because it pays attention to relationships. I think the other piece of it is the learning. We always say that learning is the purpose, it’s the process and it’s the product of mentoring.’
We do hope you’ll join us in 2009 to explore Mentoring Culture Conversations with Dr Lois Zachary.
Please email us on info@australianmentorcentre.com.au if you’d like to register your interest in attending this Webinar series.
