Our Team

The Australian Mentor Centre team is an experienced team with over 20 years experience in the field of adult learning, professional development, mentoring and people development strategies.  Our team includes tertiary qualified individuals along with a select group of Associates who bring an extended level of services provision to our clients. Three key staff at the Australian Mentor Centre include:

Gilly Johnson - Director and Founder

Gilly has been involved in education, mentoring and learning & development since 1993. She has designed and implemented national mentoring programs for tertiary nursing students across Australia and more recently has been the driving force behind the creation and launch of the Australian Mentor Centre. A former Army Education Officer, she holds tertiary qualifications in adult education, computer education, professional development and instructional design. She is a member of the Australian Institute of Management, Australian Institute of Training Development, and Australian Institute of Company Directors. She is also qualified to benchmark mentoring programs under the International Standards for Mentoring Programmes in Employment. A dynamic and passionate mentoring professional, she is committed to sharing the wisdom of mentoring through the services of the Australian Mentor Centre. Gilly has proven experiencing in managing large-scale IT related projects, having been part of the inaugural Australian Army team to take face-to-face curriculum to the first iteration of computer based training with the Australian Defence Force. Most recently, Gilly was selected by the St James Ethics Centre, to attend the inaugural Short Course for Good Leadership, now a precursor to the Vincent Fairfax Fellowship Program. Gilly was also a finalist in 2004 and 2005 in the Townsville Chamber of Commerce Young Business Person Awards.

 

Karen Brown - Manager, Mentoring Services

Karen Brown holds tertiary qualifications in adult education, professional development and instructional design. She is an experienced Mentoring Project Manager and Project Coordinator who has also recently presented on mentoring at a nursing leadership conference in 2008. Karen has worked with top Australian experts in the field of mentoring for the past four years, and now manages the mentoring services provided by the Australian Mentor Centre.

 

Emma Morton - Assistant Project Officer, Mentoring Services

Emma is a recent graduate with tertiary qualifications that include a Bachelor of Arts (Psychology) and Bachelor of Business (Human Resources) more recently; she also completed a Graduate Diploma in Psychology. Emma also works with a community health organisation where she has the role of Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) Reintegration Worker. Emma has significant experience in the use of IT systems to support mentoring partnerships, and working with mentoring groups and circles, along with students using mentoring as a support system to achieve their education goals - both undergraduate and post-graduate.
